End Cruel Experiments on Farm Animals

On January 20, the New York Times broke the story of the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center in Nebraska, which is tormenting animals — with more than $22 million in YOUR tax dollars for 2014.

At this lab, workers without medical or veterinary degrees are chopping open animals, “sometimes doing two or more major surgical operations on the same animal.”

And to repeat: Not a single one of these workers has a medical or veterinary degree.

The facts and witness accounts uncovered by the Times are gut-wrenching.

In just one particularly gruesome experiment recounted from the Times story, a teenage cow had her “head locked in a cagelike device to keep her immobile.” She was raped by as many as six bulls for hours, until her back legs were broken and her body was "torn apart," and she died.

I recently read the front page New York Times article about the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center in Nebraska, which is conducting cruel experiments on animals with more than $22 million in annual taxpayer dollars, and virtually no oversight.

As just one particularly gruesome experiment from the Times story, a teenage cow had her "head locked in a cagelike device to keep her immobile." Her back legs were broken. And she was raped by as many as six bulls for hours, until she died.

None of the workers in this lab has a medical or veterinary degree, and yet they conduct operations on animals, often multiple operations on the same animal.

Care is so pathetically bad that more than one percent of the animals has actually starved to death. They cannot even be bothered to feed them. 
Taxpayer money should not be spent on the meat industry's research and development under any circumstances, but what's happening at this lab in Nebraska simply shocks the conscience.
