Read Recent Rescue Cases
Every year, we see the number of farm animal cruelty cases reported and the need for emergency rescues grow. As the nation’s leading farm animal rescue organization, Farm Sanctuary must be ready to respond when we get calls from SPCAs, humane societies, animal control agencies, and compassionate citizens across the country. A crucial component of humane enforcement work is the ability to seize and shelter abused and abandoned farm animals during cruelty investigations and prosecution efforts. Unless a shelter facility is available for the abused animals, local law enforcement agencies may be unable to confiscate the animals. Unfortunately, the lack of a shelter facility is often used as a reason to fail to take action. If farm animals are confiscated, they are sent to slaughterhouses or livestock markets.Donations to the EMERGENCY RESCUE FUND enable us to respond to suffering farm animals immediately when we receive cruelty reports.
